You have undoubtedly heard that non-sense song, as made famous by The Muppets. Go figure that, originally spelled "Mah Na Mah Na" , it first appeared on the soundtrack of an Italian film with a bit of a salty-subject that's definitely not viewer-friendly to the eyes of The Muppets main audience. Anyways... I bet you haven't heard this version of the song, courtesy of Alternative Rock band, Cake (Off of their B-Sides & Rarities Album):
Hey Ithaca!
Last night, I was checking out the WVBR Concert Log for the spring and came across a few goodies worth seeing. Particularly Dan Hicks & the Hot Licks, who will be at The Center for the Arts in Homer, NY in April. He put out an album several years back which didn't get much airplay, but remains quite a gem to his collection. The album is called Beatin' the Heat. Anywho, I was listening to this album when all of a sudden my iTunes went BEZERK and Ellis Paul started playing. I don't have too much Ellis Paul on my iTunes (I know, for shame!), but I do have this one really great song he did called Sweet Mistakes. Beautiful song and catchy too, so beware! I decided that this guy probably deserved a little more than a fighting chance in my library, seeing as how he's been around for a good while and I've never juiced my buds (earbuds, duh!) with his stuff.
I went to www.ellispaul.com and discovered that he recently released an album called, “The Day After Everything Changed.” It came out January 12 and guess what? Yeah, it's sooooooo good. If you think you can handle banjo and electric acoustic, then you should certainly check out the first song, Annalee, a very upbeat love song. Using the acoustic guitar as a percussive instrument is common nowadays, ‘cause everyone does it, or at least tries to do it. Ellis Paul's percussive acoustic sound may not be rhythmically different than anything you've heard in the past, but aesthetically it's just very pleasing to listen to. He layers a twangy banjo, your classic acoustic guitar, an eerie piano and one good ol' snare into a collection of lyrically gorgeous songs. Of course, every good album has some sort of ballad on it and his has two! You must also check out the title track! Ellis Paul delivers a rockin' punch of folk with The Day After Everything Changed, so be sure to give it a listen!
On another note, stay tuned to WVBR during the spring as we start our second season of University of Rock, our own reality radio show. The war between the best bands at Cornell University begins again with everything from music videos to live performances!
Tune into my show this Wednesday, February 24, to hear more about it. Thanks guys!

Well maybe the title is a bit of an exaggeration, but hey its gonna snow tonight. Zach and I are currently playing our winter themed Top 10 at 10, so we hope you enjoy. We have also had a Valentines day show, and we hope that everyone has a happy Valentines weekend. Hopefully you were lucky enough to get a ticket to see Furthur play at Barton Hall! I was too late, but thats how it works sometimes isnt it. We appreciate the calls we got from our listeners! Thanks for all the great requests!
