WVBR Teams up with Relay for Life!
Come join us at CU's Barton Hall this Saturday, February 27th and raise money for the American Cancer Society
 For the third year in a row, WVBR is teaming up with the American Cancer Society in the year's biggest event designed to fund research towards ending cancer. Relay for Life is an incredible opportunity to bring the community together in hope, solidarity, and just plain good times. This year's Relay is happening this weekend from 6 PM Saturday February 27th to 6 AM Sunday February 28th in CU's Barton Hall. How is VBR getting involved? We'll be the official media sponsor for the event, hanging out all night playing music, MCing live events, keeping the atmosphere positive, and generally having a great time. VBR will also be hosting a Carnival for the Cure where you'll have the opportunity to shave balloons, play fish-pong, and win prizes all for a good cause!

Sondre Lerche at Castaways!
Saturday, February 27th
 Norwegian singer-songwriter Sondre Lerche (that's sawn-druh lair-kuh) is making his way to Ithaca for the first time ever, Saturday, February 27th at Castaways on Taughannock Boulevard. Lerche, a veritable wunderkind, released his debut album, Faces Down in 2001 at the age of 19, quickly finding praise for his mature songwriting and clever pop sensibilities. This was followed by 2004's Two Way Monologue, a further exploration of his power pop and folk roots, and 2006's Duper Sessions, a foray into jazz-pop that featured Lerche's pure but powerful tenor to great effect. Phantom Punch and the soundtrack to Dan in Real Life, starring Steve Carell, followed in 2007 and saw a return to his concise, catchy pop tunes, and just this last year Lerche released Heartbeat Radio to more critical acclaim. Hear it on VBR and don't miss him at Castaways! That's Saturday, February 27th. Tickets are $15. |
