The playlist for Classic and Contemporary Corner for 8/28/12
The Beatles - Here Comes The Sun - A Beatles classic, this is arguably one of my favorites. Not only that, but I did sing it once for a performance, so it has a special place in my heart as the only Beatles song I sang and am proud of it.
The Beatles - Eleanor Rigby
The Eagles - Hotel California - As I was browsing the Internet, I came upon a list of destinations and the methods of getting there, as described by rock songs. On the list was Hotel California, and you got there using the "dark desert highway." This prompted me to go back and re-read the lyrics, which I found were darker than I originally imagined.
Bob Dylan - Knockin' on Heaven's Door - While it was covered by Guns N' Roses, nothing can beat out the original Bob Dylan version. Not many people know that this exists, and so, I thought to expose it to those who thought only Guns played it.
U2 - With or Without You - I love Friends, and this was played in the middle of a season! Every time I hear this song, it reminds me of that show! It was a great show, and everybody should watch it at some point!
Coldplay - Trouble - Haha, so somebody made a request for Trouble, and Justin's first thought was of this song. Turns out it was a request for Trouble by Lindsey Buckingham! Something we both didn't expect. He was so down, I thought I would include this to cheer him up a little bit!
Goo Goo Dolls - Broadway - This song is so nastalgic! I know I picked some contemporary bands' older songs, and this was the first song I thought of when I chose the Goo Goo Dolls.
