Cornell has decided not to renew its masters in teaching program.

On Thursday Cornell’s College of Agriculture and Life Science announced that it will not be renewing its Masters of Art in Teaching program. The University’s M.A.T. program prepares students to teach Kindergarten through 12th grade science however, once the accreditation expires, aspiring teachers will no longer be able to attend Cornell to pursue their masters. Cornell made this decision due to budget cuts however, CALS will be using a $300,000 grant to build Cornell’s education minor. Students who are currently enrolled in the M.A.T. program can become certified New York State teachers if they graduate by December 2013.
