New York State is considering the purchase of shoreline property at Cayuga Lake in in Lansing.
This would convert the land, which has been designated as a high priority for conservation, into a public space and also prevent its development. The town of Lansing must support the plan, however, and town officials have cited concerns over the logistics of maintaining the land. Members of the Finger Lakes Land Trust, the Department of Environmental Conservation, and Lansing’s Town Board will meet on February 27th to discuss the potential effects of the purchase.
