New state park to be built in Lansing, investigation concerning vandalism reports and Risley Theatre's production of Hair
Wednesday night locals came to show their support for the New York State Park that is to be built on a piece of land north of the power plant in Lansing. Accessible from Bell Station Road the new park will sit on nearly 500 acres of agricultural and forest land, including almost 400ft of Cayuga Lake shoreline. While many citizens are in favor, several still believe that transforming this land is going to cost the town money, as it could be otherwise used to generate tax revenue.
And in other news the local police begin their investigation today regarding vandalism complaints filed Tuesday evening. The twenty-seven complaints are in response to the firing of a bb-style gun that was used to shoot out windows on both vehicles and homes on Ithaca’s Southside sometime Tuesday night. The vandalists are also charged with breaking into several vehicles, fleeing with stolen items and setting a number of fires inside the cars. Police are looking to the public for help with this case. If you or anyone you know have any information regarding this matter please contact the Ithaca Police.
And finally, if you’re looking for a hair-raising fun time this weekend, you should check out Hair at Cornell’s Risley Theater. This rendition of the late 60s rock musical is sure to be a good time with talented locals from both Ithaca College and Cornell University putting on their best hippy attire and belting feel-good tunes all night. The show goes on at 7pm on Friday and again at 10:30 and on Saturday at 8pm. Tickets can be purchased at risleytheatre.com/hair.
