Patio Homes ready for completion, work on The Commons continues and Greek Peak to open early
Patio Homes, a duplex of houses south of Longview are to be completed this month. This project includes a total of 22 units that feature a new kind of senior living. With the close proximity to Longview, seniors are able receive assistance from Longview facilities, while still maintaining the independence of living in their own home. The units are expected to open in December.
And in other news the rebuilding of the Commons continues to charge ahead. This week NYSEG plans to install a new natural-gas main on Bank Alley, a project that will lead into early December. Originally, plans were to discontinue work from Thanksgiving to around March 1st but given the decision to install a gas main, work is to continue through the holiday season. But not to worry, the construction won’t intrude on the festivities. The central apex of the Commons has been sealed to ensure that yearly winter events, including Santa’s arrival on December 7th can continue.
And finally, if you are hoping to start the winter sports season early Greek Peak may be giving you the chance to do just that. Plans are subject to change but as of now Greek Peak Mountain Resort is likely to open the day after Thanksgiving. With lifts running from 9:30-4pm on Friday and 8:30-4pm on Saturday and Sunday you can start your skiing and snowboarding on limited trails earlier than ever before. This change in the winter sports season is largely due to the below-average temperatures and therefore the ability to begin making snow sooner than expected.
