Drake to Headline Slope Day 2010
Rap Artist & Actor to Peform at Cornell May 7
Canadian recording artist and actor Drake will be headlining Cornell University's Slope Day on May 7, 2010. Slope Day Programming Board chair Dan Tracy confirmed the booking in a brief statement today.

Drake is best known for his role as Jimmy Brooks on the teen drama television series Degrassi: The Next Generation. As a performer, he has earned multiple Grammy nominations and an MTV video music award nomination, among others. Among his repertoire are Forever and the Grammy Award nominated Best I Ever Had. He is expected to release his first studio album, Thank Me Later sometime this year.

Drake's tour date at Cornell is also listed on the Billboard website.

Canadian rapper K-OS and New York City-based pop band Francis and the Lights are expected to open for Drake while on the tour.

MTV reports that Drake's visits to 15 colleges around the country this spring will be part of the 5th Annual Campus Consciousness Tour. The tour is being billed as "half rock tour, half environmental campaign."

Slope Day has been celebrated annually at Cornell on the final day of undergraduate classes since 1890. It is widely known for its focus on live music as well as catered food and beverages. Previous performers have included the Pussycat Dolls, Asher Roth, the Apples in Stereo, Gym Class Heroes, T.I., Ben Folds, Snoop Dogg, and Kanye West.

All registered Cornell students, staff, and faculty will be admitted free, while guests and alumni must purchase tickets. Visit http://slopeday.cornell.edu for more information.
