For the first time since 2003, Tompkins Consolidated Area Transit service is proposing an increase in bus fare. This intended increase will increase the current $1.50 to $2.50. There will be a public hearing on Thursday in the Tompkins County Public Library from 5 to 6:30 to discuss the intended changes for the following year.
A trip beginning in the greater Ithaca area traveling to a more rural area will remain $1.50. However the round trip will be $4.00, rather than the $3.00 it is now.
Route 52 will be discontinued since it is not run by Tioga County. Route 68 will also be discontinued since Route 15 and the 68 overlap. Routes 53 and 54 will be combined while Route 14 will be operating less frequently.
On December 1, the TCAT Board of Directors will vote on the proposal at TCAT headquarters on Willow Avenue.
