Be the first!

The second installment of my weekly power rankings.

Sorry that this one is up so late. Keep in mind that these rankings are for week 7, not week 8.

Rank

Team

Change

Record

Reasoning

1

Texans

+1

6-1

The Texans dominated what was supposed to be one of the top AFC teams in every way imaginable. They look unstoppable right now.

2

Falcons

-1

6-0

The Falcons didn’t do anything bad during the bye week to get themselves lowered; I just think that the Texans are the most dominant team in the league now.

3

Giants

--

5-2

In true Giants fashion, New York fell behind early against a division rival, but they managed to pull out a late win and make RGIII turn the ball over more than he ever has.

4

Bears

--

5-1

The Bears defense once again completely shut down a team. The shaky offense in the 2nd half can be attributed to Jay Cutler’s rib injury.

5

49ers

--

5-2

The 49ers won a close divisional victory against the Seahawks but looked a bit shaky offensively.

6

Packers

+1

4-3

The Packers are a force to be reckoned with. This was pretty much an all-around win against the Rams.

7

Patriots

+2

4-3

Really ugly win against the Jets. This game really should not have gone into overtime.

8

Ravens

-2

5-2

Good news: Suggs is healthy. Bad news: everything else looked terrible Sunday against the Texans.

9

Vikings

+2

5-2

The Vikings have one of the top defenses in the league, and many threats are emerging on the offense. This is not the same Minnesota squad we saw last year.

10

Broncos

--

3-3

Not much to say about the Broncos during their bye week. Expect Peyton to come up big against a terrible New Orleans defense this upcoming week.

11

Seahawks

-3

4-3

Close loss against division rivals, the 49ers. The line just couldn’t stop Frank Gore from running all over them.

12

Steelers

+3

3-3

The defense is playing well, Big Ben is looking solid, and backup RB’s Dwyer and Rainey are making up for Mendenhall’s and Redman’s injuries big time.

13

Cardinals

-1

4-3

It looked like the Cardinals offense just blew it every time they got the ball. They’re gonna need to get it together if they want to save their season.

14

Redskins

-1

3-4

The Redskins played a great game against the Giants but crucial turnovers led to their demise.

15

Cowboys

+2

3-3

Fans start to blame Jason Garrett after the Cowboys almost lost to the 1-5 Panthers.

16

Bengals

-2

3-4

What we learned about the Bengals this week:  If you triple cover AJ Green, there really isn’t much else left on their offense.

17

Chargers

+1

3-3

After their bye week, the Chargers have a good opportunity to turn this season around against the Browns

18

Eagles

+1

3-3

The Eagles are undefeated coming off a bye week for the past 13 seasons and must face the undefeated Falcons. It should be an interesting game.

19

Dolphins

+1

3-3

Before their bye week, the Dolphins started to put it together. This looks like it’ll one of the best seasons in recent years.

20

Lions

-4

2-4

The only reason I had the Lions so high last week was because I had faith in them.  Their D was okay this week, but their offense did absolutely nothing right.

21

Saints

+4

2-4

An offense that put up an impressive 4 passing touchdowns in the first half stagnated in the second half. The defense still needs to improve greatly.

22

Buccaneers

-1

2-4

The Buccaneers amassed 500 yards on offense but blew the game through some stupid mistakes against the Saints.

23

Jets

--

3-4

This one was almost a win against the usually much better Patriots. I think the blame can be shifted off of Mark Sanchez at this point, though.

24

Rams

-2

3-4

Sam Bradford would be so much better with an actual O-line. The Rams had the misfortune of facing Aaron Rodgers after his slump; he’s pretty much unstoppable.

25

Colts

+2

3-3

Close win against the Brown is what turned out to be a seriously boring game.

26

Titans

+3

3-4

The Titans beat the Bills by 1 as Chris Johnson returned to his 2009 level of play. Still, their defense needs some work as they allowed the Bills to score 34 points.

27

Bills

-1

3-4

Bills defense is the worst in the league and the play calling in Buffalo is bizarre. It’s a surprise they’re 3-4.

28

Panthers

-3

1-5

GM Marty Hurney was fired after this lackluster performance against the Cowboys.

29

Raiders

-1

2-4

If you almost lose to an MJD-less Jaguars, then something is very, very wrong.

30

Browns

--

1-6

Weeden is looking better every week. If he can continue this level of play and Richardson stays healthy, the Browns could start winning games.

31

Chiefs

+1

1-5

Let’s see what Brady Quinn can do with his starting QB position.

32

Jaguars

-1

1-5

Seriously? The Jaguars managed to put themselves ahead and then throw it away, and now MJD and Gabbert are hurt. Things are looking bad for Jacksonville.
