Buffalo Wild Wings Sprinkler Edition

Another week, another power rankings. There’s been a lot more movement this week than the previous weeks, and I’ll tell you why. I’m using the Neutral Field Test. If 2 teams were to play on a neutral field right now, I put the team that I think would win higher in the rankings than the losing team. This way, I don’t necessarily have to move a team up just because they won or down because they lost. I think it’s helped me make my rankings more accurate. Anyway, let me know what you think in the comments section. I’d love to discuss some good ole football with you.

Rank

Team

Change

Record

Reasoning

1

Texans

--

10-1

Despite a weakened defense, the Texans still manage to win exciting game after exciting game. The Texans are the team to beat right now.

2

49ers

--

8-2-1

Kaepernick has been filling in for Alex Smith so well that he’s actually replaced Smith as the starter. The 49ers continue to win tough games and look to be the top team in the NFC right now.

3

Patriots

+3

8-3

The Patriots have been crushing opponents lately, and they’ve only lost by a combined 4 points in their losses. They look unstoppable right now.

4

Broncos

+1

8-3

A Broncos-Chiefs matchup really should not have been decided by only 8 points, but the Broncos did come out with a solid win on Sunday.

5

Falcons

-1

10-1

Another game won by only 1 point. The Falcons have somehow managed to only lose one game even though they’ve been less than stellar.

6

Giants

+3

7-4

A struggling Giants squad coming off of their bye week embarrassed the injury-riddled Packers. The Giants look like they’re out of their slump and in their playoff charge.

7

Packers

-4

7-4

Injuries have really left a mark on the Packers, and it showed in their loss to the Giants on Sunday. Next week, they face their division rival, the Vikings.

8

Bears

--

8-3

The Bears picked up a big win against the Vikings, but several of their key starters were injured in the process. They’re going to need to get healthy quickly to stay alive in the NFC North.

9

Ravens

-2

9-2

Besides Ray Rice’s miracle 4th and 29 play, the Ravens looked dead the entire game.

10

Colts

+6

7-4

The Colts have come through when they needed to this season. They kept their shot at a wildcard spot in sight with a win over the Bills.

11

Seahawks

--

6-5

The Seahawks again showed their complete inability to play on the road. The NFC wildcard race is getting extremely heated, so the Seahawks will need to step it up.

12

Buccaneers

-1

6-5

The Bucs’ 4-game win streak came to an end with a close loss to the Falcons. They have a tough matchup on the road against the Broncos next week.

13

Vikings

-1

6-5

The playcalling on offense clearly isn’t working, and Harvin being injured doesn’t help either. The Vikings will really have to step it up to go 9-7 or even 8-8 this season.

14

Redskins

+1

5-6

The Redskins are somehow back in the NFC wildcard race. RGIII is having an unbelievable season, and it wouldn’t be too farfetched to see the Redskins grab a playoff spot.

15

Saints

-1

5-6

The Saints will need a win against the Falcons tonight in order to keep realistic playoff hopes alive. It’s going to be a tough task with such a lenient defense.

16

Steelers

-6

6-5

8 turnovers. It’s understandable that the Steelers aren’t going to do as well without Big Ben, but the entire offense collapsed on Sunday. They play the Ravens again this week.

17

Bengals

--

6-5

The Bengals are on a hot streak, winning their last 3 games by a combined 66 points. They have another easy matchup against the Chargers this week.

18

Lions

+1

4-7

The Lions played a balanced game on all fronts, but some critical errors (Schwartz throwing the flag and some terrible 3rd down playcalling) ruined their chances at a win.

19

Cowboys

-1

5-6

The Cowboys should be much better, but Jerry Jones is basically ruining the team. A win against the rapidly collapsing Eagles might keep their playoff hopes alive.

20

Dolphins

+1

5-6

Miami came out with a surprising win against Seattle to end their slump. Let’s see if they can keep it up through a tough last 5 games during which they play the Patriots twice.

21

Rams

+5

4-6-1

Janoris Jenkins had the highlight of this game by grabbing 2 pick sixes. This was a solid performance overall for the Rams, with 2 offensive and 2 defensive touchdowns.

22

Cardinals

-2

4-7

That was the Cardinals’ 7th loss in a row. It had looked like such a bright season 2 months ago, but a team can’t function without a competent QB and O-line.

23

Chargers

--

4-7

The Chargers again found a new and exciting way to lose their early lead. It’s sad that they’re somehow the 2nd best team in the AFC West.

24

Bills

-2

4-7

CJ Spiller seems to be the only saving grace of the Bills, but they refuse to use him to his full potential. I have a feeling the Bills will continue to suffer.

25

Panthers

+3

3-8

The Panthers won handily against the Eagles, though their defense looked pretty bad. They have another easy matchup against the Chiefs coming up.

26

Browns

+3

3-8

Cleveland’s defense really came through against the Steelers on Sunday. A few adjustments on offense could really turn this team into a contender.

27

Jets

-2

4-7

I think the butt fumble really epitomizes the Jets’ season. Everything went wrong for the Jets this Thanksgiving.

28

Titans

-4

4-7

What happened to the Titans we saw destroy the Dolphins? They look like they’re on their way to another loss at the hands of the Texans this week.

29

Jaguars

+2

2-9

The offense is finally clicking with Henne at QB. Blackmon and Shorts looked like star receivers as the Jaguars came away with a well-deserved win.

30

Eagles

-3

3-8

The Eagles look like they’ve given up. Firing Castillo didn’t work, but half of this team’s staff will probably be gone after this season.

31

Raiders

-1

3-8

The Raiders might as well set up scarecrows on the field instead of sending their defense out. I don’t think we’d see too much of a change.

32

Chiefs

--

1-10

The Chiefs have become the first team to be mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. That is all.
