Purple Jesus Edition

So here are my power rankings for week 14. After several weeks of being the top team, the Texans have fallen 2 spots. The Patriots have taken their place, so the top 3 teams and bottom 3 teams are still AFC. Leave a comment below to let me know what you think.

Also, an interesting note about parity in the NFL: The Chiefs’ only 2 wins have been against the 2 teams that beat the 11-2 Falcons, the Panthers and Saints.

Rank

Team

Change

Record

Reasoning

1

Patriots

+2

10-3

The Patriots completely dominated the #1 seed of the AFC on Monday night. They have the highest net point total in the league and are probably the strongest team right now.

2

Broncos

--

10-3

The Broncos have a fairly easy schedule en route to the playoffs, so they’ll probably be taking it easy in the final 2 weeks of the season.

3

Texans

-2

11-2

The best record in the NFL still belongs to the Texans, but the Patriots walked all over them. The Texans have been declining over the course of the last few weeks.

4

49ers

+1

9-3-1

The 49ers got back on track with a win against the Dolphins. With 2 tough games coming up and the Seahawks slowly creeping up behind them, the 49ers will need to stay consistent.

5

Giants

+2

8-5

In yet another surprising performance, the Giants completely dominated the Saints after doing almost nothing right against the Redskins.

6

Packers

--

9-4

The Packers look like they’re poised to take the division as their running game has slowly been improving.

7

Falcons

-3

11-2

It’s hard to believe the Falcons are 11-2 with the way they played against the Panthers. They were shut down in every way possible and really did not look like a playoff team.

8

Seahawks

+1

8-5

The Seahawks put up the most dominant performance of the season by shutting out the Cardinals and scoring 58 points. Still, it’s going to be close with all the other teams in the NFC wildcard race doing well.

9

Colts

-1

9-4

Despite falling behind early and Andrew Luck playing less than stellar, the Colts pulled out a win against the Titans. At 9-4, they look like they’re headed to the playoffs.

10

Redskins

+3

7-6

Clutch quarterback play from Kirk Cousins after RGIII got injured and reliable kicking by Kai Forbath helped the Redskins win their 4th game in a row.

11

Ravens

-1

9-4

After a disappointing performance against the Redskins, offensive coordinator Cam Cameron has been fired. Maybe now, Ray Rice will be better utilized.

12

Bears

-1

8-5

The Bears offense couldn’t pull it together, and their defense was completely inept at stopping Adrian Peterson. This week’s matchup against the Packers might decide who wins the division.

13

Steelers

-1

7-6

The AFC North did not do too well last week; however, the Steelers still have a good shot at the playoffs because there aren’t too many teams that will give them a challenge.

14

Vikings

+2

7-6

Adrian Peterson is incredible. He’s been keeping the Vikings alive and has a legitimate chance of putting up a 2,000 yard season.

15

Cowboys

+3

7-6

I think I’ve consistently ranked the Cowboys too low. They proved themselves to be legitimate contenders with their win against Cincinnati.

16

Bengals

-2

7-6

The Bengals should have had the win last week. To keep their playoff hopes alive, they need to win next week. Thankfully, this matchup is against the Eagles.

17

Buccaneers

-2

6-7

After looking so good for a few weeks, the Buccaneers have now lost 3 in a row. They’re still in the hunt, but playoffs are looking unlikely.

18

Rams

+1

6-6-1

The Rams looked dead for the entire first half, but they pulled through and won against the Bills.

19

Saints

-2

5-8

An all-around lackluster performance against the Giants ended the Saints’ hopes of making the playoffs.

20

Browns

+2

5-8

The Browns have now won 3 games in a row as they completely crushed the Chiefs. They looked strong on all sides of the ball last Sunday.

21

Lions

-1

4-9

It seems like every single game, the Lions get to an early lead and slowly implode as the game goes on. This team has so much talent but can’t seem to produce.

22

Panthers

+3

4-9

The Panthers did a great job of dismantling the Falcons. The defense shut the Falcons out in the first half, and Cam Newton finished the day with 405 yards and 3 touchdowns.

23

Chargers

+1

5-8

A new offensive line was exactly what the Chargers needed to become competitive again. They took down the Steelers and face the Panthers next week.

24

Dolphins

-3

5-8

Even though no Dolphins fan really expected a win against the 49ers, the Dolphins still kept it interesting. They have an easy matchup against the Jaguars next week.

25

Bills

-2

5-8

The Bills are gonna continue to lose if Spiller only gets 7 carries a game. He’s clearly one of the best running backs in the league and should be the focal point of the offense.

26

Jets

--

6-7

The Jets are… still in the playoff race? Next week, they play the Titans in a terrible Monday Night Football matchup.

27

Eagles

+1

4-9

The Eagles won for the first time since September, pulling ahead at the last second. Nick Foles is looking better every game.

28

Titans

+1

4-9

The Titans got off to a hot start, but inconsistent play stopped them from keeping their lead against the Colts.

29

Cardinals

-2

4-9

58-0. 9 game losing streak.

30

Jaguars

--

2-11

The Jaguars are really banged up, and Chad Henne’s hot streak is over. Gabbert is not the answer, so this team will need a new QB next year.

31

Raiders

--

3-10

The star running backs of the Raiders are back, but this team just doesn’t have a chance at winning without a defense or a more reliable quarterback.

32

Chiefs

--

2-11

With Dwayne Bowe probably out for the season, it looks like the Chiefs won’t win another game this year.
