Well the calendar turns to July and it's time for another WVBR version of the MLB Power Rankings. There are plenty of changes from our previous edition, starting right from the top, as the Boston Red Sox have taken the top spot from the Los Angeles Dodgers , who fall to number two. Meanwhile, the Tampa Bay Rays jumped from tenth to fourth, and the struggling Philadelphia Phillies have dropped from fourth to ninth.
1. Boston Red Sox
There is no such thing as too much pitching
2. Los Angeles Dodgers
Ho-Hum stretch as we wait for Manny's return
3. New York Yankees
All that $$$ really starting to pay off
4. Tampa Bay Rays
See, it will be a three-race for the AL East, Rays will only continue to improve
5. Los Angeles Angels
AL West should be locked up in the coming weeks
6. Detroit Tigers
Magglio Ordonez is the AL's David Wright, but the first-place Tigers offense is still good though
7. Milwaukee Brewers
Too bad they can't trade for Sabathia again this year
8. San Francisco Giants
LincecumCain = shades of KoufaxDrysdale.. Look out for this team
9. Philadelphia Phillies
Philly will regret not putting this division away now come September
10. Colorado Rockies
Can the Rox keep up this surprising hot streak? Looking at their upcoming schedule, I say yes
11. Texas Rangers
Another early-season tease by Texas
12. Saint Louis Cardinals
Albert Pujols has a decent shot at winning the triple crown, and the added protection from DeRosa won't hurt
13. Minnesota Twins
Haven't been to break away from that .500 mark
14. Chicago White Sox
Just as hot as anyone in baseball right now and poised to make a run at the division title
15. Toronto Blue Jays
If only they played in any other division
16. New York Mets
Putting a AA lineup out there every night with no imminent relief in sight
17. Chicago Cubs
Time to shake this team up?
18. Florida Marlins
Just a small hot streak gets them right there in the putrid NL East
19. Cincinnati Reds
Will the Reds ever be a legitimate contender?
20. Seattle Mariners
The quietest above .500 team in baseball, Ichiro looking for 250 hits again?
21. Houston Astros
Another team just hanging around in a very pedestrian NL
22. Atlanta Braves
Tommy Hanson looks like the real deal
23. Pittsburgh Pirates
Zach Duke is returning to 2005 form
24. Baltimore Orioles
Big comeback against the Red Sox will be the highlight of the season
25. Oakland A's
Not your older brother's Oakland A's
26. San Diego Padres
How many Padres will be moved between now and the trade deadline?
27. Kansas City Royals
Only the Indians are keeping KC out of their rightful spot in the basement
28. Arizona Diamondbacks
Dan Haren is having a spectacular year out in the desert but nobody will care
29. Cleveland Indians
Can Shaq save the Indians too?
30. Washington Nationals
Adam Dunn would look great in a New York Mets uniform
