Learn about next year’s 2020 U.S. Census, and how you can help ensure a count of everyone in Tompkins County, at a Community Meeting on the Census August 13th.
The meeting, sponsored by the Tompkins County Legislature’s special Complete Census Count Committee, will be held on Tuesday, the 13th, beginning at 5:30 p.m., at the Borg Warner Room of the Tompkins County Public Library, 101 E. Green Street, Ithaca.
“It is very important that we count everyone who lives in Tompkins County in 2020,” notes Legislator Michael Lane, Chair of the Complete Census Count Committee. “It will take hard work to make everyone aware of how important an accurate count of our population truly is. It is a basic tool to help us qualify for grant funding for so many programs for our schools, colleges, non-profits, municipalities, and more. It also determines how we are represented in Congress and in State and local legislatures.”
Tuesday’s meeting will include a presentation from the United States Census Bureau about the process, with time for discussion, questions, and answers.
