ITHACA—Tompkins County Public Library will host Lily Silly for a children’s shadow puppet workshop Thursday, August 8, from 1:30 to 2:30 pm, in the Library’s Thaler/Howell Programming Room. With the guidance of Lily Silly, children attending the workshop will first experience a short shadow puppet show that models what shadow puppets can do. Then they will use templates, card stock, tape, pencils, and other materials to make their own shadow puppet, which they can then try out in the puppet theater. Lily Silly is Lily Gershon, a puppeteer, producer, singer and puppet maker, among other things. She is also the director of Lilypad Puppet Theater, a nonprofit dedicated to puppet arts. This program is free and open to the public. This workshop is best suited for children ages 5 and up. Younger children will need adult assistance. No registration is required. This workshop is part of TCPL’s 2019 Summer Adventure. It is made possible by a grant from the Bernard Carl and Shirley Rosen Library Fund of the Community Foundation of Tompkins County.
