Free Thanksgiving meals around the Ithaca area

WVBR has an annual listing of restaurants serving Thanksgiving meals around Ithaca and Tompkins County in our weekly 14850 Dining Report, but here's a peek at some of the FREE holiday meals available.

The Greater Ithaca Activities Center is hosting a takeout-only edition of its annual Harvest Fest Dinner on Friday, November 20th. Pickup will be available 4:30-7:30pm, and seniors already registered with GIAC can request delivery. Reserve meals using an online form, by calling 272-3622, or stopping by GIAC’s reception desk any time before November 20th. Walkups will be welcome on November 20th while supplies last, but they encourage everyone to reserve a meal in advance. The Ithaca Chase Bank branch is the event sponsor, turkeys are being donated and cooked by Wegmans, and other sponsors include Maxie’s Supper Club and Oyster Bar, Shortstop Deli, Texas Roadhouse, and B&W Supply.

Flynn's Roadhouse in Lansing has a complimentary Thanksgiving dinner at 2pm on Thanksgiving. Beverage purchases and tips for the hardworking staff are welcome.

Loaves and Fishes of Tompkins County has their traditional Thanksgiving meal available for takeout on Tuesday evening, November 24th, served from 5:30-6:30pm. They’re open for lunch Wednesday from noon-1pm, and will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.

The Salvation Army is offering hot Thanksgiving meals to go beginning at noon on Thanksgiving Day.

And Mutual Aid Tompkins is working with Luna Inspired Street Food to offer free prepared Thanksgiving family meals that will serve four to six people. Order online for pickup on Tuesday, with delivery available if needed. Some of the food sharing cabinets with coolers will have individual meals available as well.

Keeping you in tune with Tompkins County, we are WVBR.
