ITHACA—Tompkins County Public Library will continue to host opportunities for those in the process of learning French to practice conversational skills. The conversation group will meet on Mondays, starting January 20, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm in the Library’s Tompkins Trust Company Study Room. The conversation group is appropriate for anyone who has taken some French in the past and is looking for a place to practice. The group will discuss, in French, topics ranging from US and French politics or world news, to culture, literature, art forms, or new technologies, depending on the interests of the group. All levels are welcome, but participants will be more comfortable with an intermediate level of French. The group is led by Claire Ménard, a lecturer in French studies at Cornell University. She received her PhD from Rutgers University and Paris 8 University and is a native French speaker. She is also one of the organizers of the French Film Festival hosted by Cornell Cinema on Campus. These sessions are free and open to the public. No registration is required. For more information about this and other TCPL programming, contact smckissick@tcpl.org or 607 272-4557, ext. 260.
