About the documentary – In the 1970s, the Highwoods String band’s unique blend of musical brilliance, exuberance, sparkling wit, and eclectic repertoire introduced tens of thousands of delighted listeners to traditional old-time music. The Grammy-nominated band traveled extensively, playing major folk festivals across the U.S. and touring in Latin America and Europe, and released three albums on Rounder Records. The band also inspired countless other musicians and their influence on the music can still be heard today. Blending rare performance footage, photographs, sound recordings, and interviews, this colorful film aptly captures the spirit of the time and the joy and excitement generated by the band.
