ITHACA—Tompkins County Public Library welcomes the community to learn some fundamental skills of networking, Wednesday, September 18, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm, in the Library’s BorgWarner Community Room. This event is designed to bring together newcomers to the US, local jobseekers, non-native and native English language speakers, to learn, practice, and apply relevant professional skills such as making introductions, small talk, creating an elevator pitch, and building connections with others, to increase one’s network. After the event, participants will have the opportunity to tour the Library and learn about the resources offered there. This event is part of Welcoming America’s Welcoming Week, an annual series of events bringing together immigrants and those born in the country where they live in a spirit of unity and building stronger connections across communities. Along with TCPL, cohosts include Cornell University Community Learning and Service Partnership, Of All Trades, Open Doors English, Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce, and Tompkins Workforce Center New York. Of All Trades and Open Doors English are projects of the Center for Transformative Action, a 501(c)(3) in Ithaca. For more information about this and other TCPL programming, contact smckissick@tcpl.org or 607 272-4557, ext. 260.
