February 15 Updates
The operator of the Chevrolet Silverado, who fled the scene on foot and was subsequently apprehended, has been identified as 24 year-old Markley D. Doane. During the course of their investigation, Deputies observed signs of impairment. Deputies conducted a DWI Investigation which resulted in DOANE being arrest for Driving While Intoxicated.
DOANE was charged with Failure to Keep Right, Driving While Intoxicated, Driving While Intoxicated with a BAC of .08% or Greater, Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Accident and Vehicular Assault 2nd degree. DOANE was released on tickets ordering him to appear in the Town of Ulysses Court at a later date.
The operate of the Jeep Wrangler was treated at Upstate Medical Center and has since been released.
February 14
On February 14, 2020 at about 3:48 PM, the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 8400 block of Perry City Road in the Town of Ulysses for a motor vehicle crash. Upon arrival it was determined that a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling West on Perry City Road when it collided with a 2008 Jeep Wrangler that was traveling East on Perry City Road. The driver of the Jeep Wrangler was airlifted by Guthrie Air to a Syracuse hospital. The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado fled on foot from the scene and was apprehended a short time later in a nearby wooded area. Perry City Road was closed to all traffic from the Schuyler County line to Waterburg Road for about 2 hours. The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (607) 266-5420. The New York State Police, Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office, Trumansburg Fire Department, Trumansburg Ambulance, and Enfield Fire Department assisted in this incident.
