Warming Center at Addison Jr./Sr. High School closed at 11pm Monday
CORNING, NY, Tuesday, December 3, 2019— Volunteers from the American Red Cross will continue operating a shelter at the Canisteo Fire Department, 14 South Main Street in Canisteo, until 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 3, for residents affected by the recent winter storm and resulting power outages. There were no residents at the shelter overnight, and the decision to close has been made in conjunction with emergency officials. The decision was made to close the warming center at Addison Jr./Sr. High School at 11 p.m Monday. The Red Cross remains in contact with emergency officials across the region to coordinate the most efficient and effective response to this storm, and is prepared to provide additional relief services as needed.
The Red Cross would like to thank all the volunteers, partners, and donors who helped provide comfort and hope to our neighbors in need.
People can download the Red Cross Emergency App for instant access to winter storm and other disaster safety tips, as well real-time weather alerts, and a map of shelter locations. Expert medical guidance and a hospital locator are included in the First Aid App in case of hypothermia, frostbite, and other emergencies.
