Social Service League of Ithaca Foundation Announces 2019-2020 Grant Funding

The Social Service League of Ithaca Foundation is pleased to announce that it is now accepting applications for its 2019-2020 grant program.  The deadline for submitting applications is Monday, November 4, 2019.

The mission of the Social Service League is to support Tompkins County nonprofit human service organizations in their work to address the most significant community needs. Any nonprofit, incorporated, human/social service provider in Tompkins County is eligible to apply.

Requests for funding up to $3,000 will be accepted.  In previous grant cycles, average awards have typically ranged between $1,000 and $1,500.  Funding is not granted for capital fund drives, deficits, or proposals requiring ongoing support from the Social Service League.  The League does not support regular ongoing operating expenses, unless the request shows how the activity will be supported once grant funds are spent.

The Human Services Coalition supports the Social Service League in administering this grant program.  To access the online application and review the grant guidelines, visit www.hsctc.org/socialserviceleague or contact Tamara Beardsley at 607-273-8686 or tbeardsley@hsctc.org

Organizations in Tompkins County meeting the grant guidelines are encouraged to apply and the Human Services Coalition is glad to answer any questions about the application.

About the Social Service League:

Originally established to support local families and to respond to the needs of a growing immigrant population, the Social Service League has been part of the human services community in Tompkins County since its founding in 1904. The League opened three settlement houses between 1918 and 1925, offering a full range of programs including nursery school, athletic and social events, classes, and educational and recreational facilities. When the houses ended operation in the 1960s, the sales of the buildings formed the endowment for the current Social Service League Foundation.  This endowment supports annual grants to local organizations for projects consistent with the goals of the original League.
