ITHACA—Tompkins County Public Library is pleased to offer the opportunity to create a laser cut bookmark on Thursday, September 26, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, in the Library’s Makerspace. At this workshop for people ages 16 and up, participants will get instruction on how to do some basic editing with Inkscape, a vector graphics program, and then prepare a basic design for laser cutting and engraving. Participants will leave with a laser engraved bookmark and the file they create. This workshop will be led by Beline, local artist, owner of the small business Iteku, and board member at Ithaca Generator. Participants are expected to be experienced with: using the basic tools of the Windows operating system; using a keyboard and mouse; and accessing, saving, and importing files on a flash drive. Space is limited and registration is required for this free program. Register online: www.tcpl.org/events/laser-cut-bookmark-making. If, after signing up, it is necessary to cancel, participants are asked to do so as soon as possible, online or by calling the Library, so that someone on the waitlist can participate. For more information about this or other programming at TCPL, or to inquire about accommodations for full and comfortable participant engagement contact Information and Learning Services at cfontana@tcpl.org or 607 272-4557, ext. 260.
